Getting Yourself a Blog – Part 2

What’s In a Name

If you are considering setting up a blog, an inportant thing to think about is what you are going to call it.

Since a blog is really just another website with certain special features, the naming conventions are pretty much the same as any other website. You can get a totally separate domain name which would stand alone or you can make it a subdomain of your main URL.

If you check out the name of this blog, you can see I have chosen the latter option. Since I am doing this blog mainly for demonstrative purposes, I didn’t feel it necessary to go out and find a new domain name. In terms of search engine relevance, my name is contained in the URL in case someone would be looking for me by name. If you wanted to promote a product or service, you would want to somehow include it in your domain name.
